Who We Are

KidsRock4Kids
Our Website
KidsRock4Kids is a community service and cause awareness group led by teens for teens. Our goal is to develop KidsRock4Kids into a platform that inspires the “Y ME” generation of today to become the “Y Not” Leaders of tomorrow.

By providing positive role models and mentoring we strongly advocate for high school graduation and secondary education. Our adult mentor, Rebecca Richardson was a teen parent who learned that nothing great can be achieved without determination, hard work and focus, as such KidsRock4Kids has been developed with those core ideals in mind.

The impact of becoming a KR4K member is in gaining valuable insight into the needs of our community and to those less fortunate around the world.

We are actively looking for teens between the ages of 13-19 who want to take part in this unique venture. We are also seeking to partner with local or national companies that will assist our effort to grow and incorporate KR4K into non-profit status.

The KidsRock4Kids Charter

We have modeled our charter after the Service Learning Model of Community Service. Through participation in KR4K our members will:
1. Teach through example as positive role models for themselves and their peers
2. Participate in community service projects
3. Increase our knowledge of global issues
4. Foster new friendships locally and virtually
5. Obtain valuable leadership experience
6. Educate through cause awareness campaigns
7. Learn empathy for others less fortunate

8. Understand the value of paying it forward

9. Provide mentoring to younger peers

10. Focus on importance of education & career

Hi

It’s good to find people who think as we do. Our UK organisation was founded in 1972 by Trevor Huddleston – he was the white parish priest in South Africa who was one of the first to speak out against apartheid and suffered exile for his beliefs. Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu were proteges as well as jazz trumpeter Hugh Masekela (Bishop Trevor got him a trumpet from Louis Armstrong). Two children died in East London where Huddleston was a bishop, because they had nowhere safe to play. That caused him such anger, he set up Fair Play which supports The Child’s Right to Play (Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child) – and we continue what he started. Of course that Right isn’t isolated – it is connected with all the other Rights – and indeed, to us, it is the most “child-typical” of all the Rights. If your child cannot play, then s/he is in great trouble. Not just now but in their development into balanced, happy adults.

Our website is at http://www.fairplayforchildren.org. We keep an eye on “things American” (like those who don’t want the US to sign up to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and their lame arguments) as we keep an eye on the UK and elesewhere. Our view is that, in order to make the World Fit for All Our Children to Play In, we will have to do everything it takes to put it right.

Keep in touch.
